hi guys, the battery went out in my birddog after 8 years. i have ordered 6 sub-c battries to replace the old ones, half the price of buying a new birddog battery pack. has anyone else done this, and any tips you have would be great. thanks all.

No, Li-ion battery's take a different charge cycle charge rate then other types of battery's, if they sell a replacement Li-ion pack and it comes with a different charger you really need that...

Have you checked the dimensions of those batteries with the ones birdog uses? With the prices I see for repalacement packs it would be nice to be able to replace them with DIY battery pack.

I just checked the dimensions, they should work.
I've been looking for replacents, found that c-cells were too large, never heard of sub c-cells before. Thanks for the info cozumel.

They have more battery sizes then you can shake a stick at, here is a link to sizes used around the world.

And I find Digikey.com or mouser.com a good source for most.
