I have a steam boiler, Weil Mc Lain.. model# eg 55 - spdn.
Series - 4.

I would like to run the basement on hot water from my steam boiler.

Question: How do i connect the 120v thermostat to 120v pump and any other devices thus making the boiler come on inorder to feed 3 baseboard heater without giving steam to the upstair of my house.

thank you

you need to install zone valves ..........this is the short answer

basically they are a valve that open and close on demand ie: thermostat control
To have hot water from steam you will need some kind of heat exchanger
You may be better off setting up a holding tank piped into your hot water heater
I hope this helps you .........You may want to talk to a tech regarding your ideas

the hot water i think you are referring to on your boiler is return ie: condensation( I would leave that alone )

joe171 gave you a very simple explanation .
However...
You would have to place the three steam heaters on there own circuit on the live side of the boiler . Return would be the to the same side as the return for the rest of the house. Then add a zone valve to control those heaters.
A Low voltage thermostat could/should/would be installed to control the three heaters and the other"original" thermostat would still control the others.
If the whole house is not separated into 'zones" or "separate circuits" then the whole house will heat up no matter how many zone valves are installed.
As mentioned above by joe171/// It is not something you can do yourself, if you have to ask the question you did..
Take his suggestion and get a boiler tech to have a look and offer a solution.. ;)
