ROY DOES IT ALL AS TRAIL BLAZERS DOWN CLIPPERS

Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Brandon Roy scored 25 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists, as the Portland Trail Blazers edged the Los Angeles Clippers, 103-99.

Martell Webster added 15 points, Jerryd Bayless scored 14 with eight assists, while Juwan Howard and Steve Blake contributed 10 points apiece. The Trail Blazers have won five of six overall.

Chris Kaman led the Clippers with 25 points and nine rebounds, while Eric Gordon poured in 24 points to go along with six assists. Baron Davis notched a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists, Rasual Butler scored 15 off the bench and Al Thornton added 11 points. The Clippers have dropped four of five.

The Trail Blazers blazed their way to a 23-13 lead on the heels of 11 straight points. Andre Miller started the spurt with a layup and Howard drained two jumpers and a baby hook to complete it late in the first.

Portland led by five, 25-20, after one period and the Clippers drew within one bucket several times in the second then tied it at 48-48 on Gordon's layup with under two minutes on the clock. Portland immediately answered with the half's final nine points with highlights including Roy's three-point play with just under a minute to play.

The resilient Clippers again fought back, coming within 63-61 on a pair of Davis free throws with just over six minutes on the clock. Gordon's triple with 3:26 on the clock brought the visitors all the way back to 69-69. Portland got two difficult buckets from Roy in the final minute to take a 81-76 edge into the final period.

The edge quickly grew to 10 points at 91-81 on back-to-back Bayless jumpers, but Los Angeles made one last push, cutting a 10-point deficit to four at 101-97 on Butler's layup with 1:19 to play. It cut the margin to four one more time on Kaman's shot in the lane with 42 ticks remaining, but never got closer.

Game Notes

Portland made 50.6 percent of its shots while the Clippers drained 49.3 percent of their attempts...Portland won three of four from the Clippers last season...Marcus Camby scored seven points with 11 rebounds and three blocks in defeat.
