LOPEZ LEADS NETS TO THIRD WIN OF SEASON

THE SPORTS NETWORK

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - Brook Lopez had 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Nets to their third win of the season, a 104-95 decision over the New York Knicks.

Yi Jianlian had a team-high 22 points, as the Nets snapped the 10-game slide they were on since their last win, December 8 at Chicago. Chris Douglas- Roberts and Devin Harris each scored 17 points in the victory.

"It's always good to end the year on a good note, in anything," Douglas- Roberts said. "We needed a win, anyway. We just needed a win, period."

Al Harrington came off the bench to score a game-high 25 points and grab nine rebounds, while David Lee had his seventh consecutive double-double, with 24 points and 15 rebounds. He nearly made it a triple-double with eight assists, but it was not enough, as the Knicks lost for the third time in four games.

"They shot the ball well," Lee said. "You expect Lopez to be a high-volume shooter and a guy that gets a lot of buckets who works hard in there. You expect Harris to do that, but they had some other guys step up big tonight."

New York was ahead 28-27 after a tight first quarter, though the Nets moved in front in the second. Two Lopez free throws capped a five-point burst that put New Jersey up 45-38 just past the midway point, and the Nets later built a double-digit lead.

Jianlian, Harris and Douglas-Roberts had successive baskets to push the advantage to 57-44 with 2:23 left. The Knicks avoided going into the break facing a large hole, however, as they scored nine of the half's final 12 points to trim their deficit to 60-53.

But New York didn't score for the first 3 1/2 minutes of the third quarter, opening the door for the Nets, who were ahead 68-53 following Jianlian's free throw with just under nine minutes to play.

New Jersey carried a double-digit advantage, 85-72, to the fourth, and held on despite shooting just 6-for-22 in the final frame. Harrington's turnaround jumper with four minutes to play got New York within 97-86, but neither team scored for the next 2 1/2 minutes as New Jersey secured the victory at the free throw line.
