I have 3 Samsung flat screens ranging in size from 32" to 62". DLP, LCD and Plasma. The plasma is the 59" PN59D550. Paid $999.00 during boxing day sales at Leon's. Not using as 3D at the moment due to limited 3D content and waiting for prices to drop on the glasses and such. TV can convert a 2D source into 3D however. Picture is great and never had a problem with any of the Samsung products. Have 4 Samsung blu-ray players as well, 2 are wifi. (not 3D). Brother-in-law has a 46" LED Samsung (not 3D). Picture is fantastic and better than my plasma. But you'll pay more for the LED.

I have the same samsung plasma you have but the 51 inch model. I was going to get the one you had but I didn't like the picture quality at that size. If you think the picture quality is good now, there is a hack out there allows you to convert the tv to the 7000 model. Picture quality is much better after the hack.

As for the op it really depends on what model. I think Panasonic 3d's generally get slightly better reviews but it comes down to opinion. They both are the top in 3d plasma displays
