This is strange my central air unit doesent come on until I go outside smack the top of unite then the fan kicks on.any ideal might be? Thanks

If you are down south maybe ants in contactor.

could be a number of things,

like the condenser fan motor may be on it's way out, or could be a weak capacitor even could be as something as simple as a loose connection...

Could it be corrosion on your fan wires??
