I am going to now attempt to write the "how to" on changing the aircraft cable and greasing the lift springs for the Goshen Lift System....this was done on my 95/96 Duthmen ( The Duck ) 801.........Here we go ..

I am going to cheat a little from the instructions that came with the cable ..

1. Remove the tie plate by removing the 2 self tapping screws

there are a total of 4 screws , remove the other 2 that connect to the master tube

then remove the bolts holding the lift tubes at each corner:

Pull the spring out of the corner by bending it down and pull it out:

Once you have all bolts/screws removed, slowly pull the springs out of the master tube..

My cable had snapped up by the Winch, I was able to simply pull the old cable out , When you remove the old cable, if possible, lay it beside the new, to make sure that you have the same distance between the push plates ( important )

Now, looking at your New cable you will see that 1 end has a Crimped end and the other does not

Feed the end without the "crimping" through the bottom of the pulley towards the top of the master tube

slowly feed it all the way through the top portion of the master tube until it comes out the front...
Now, take the other end of the cable and pusher plate , and just feed it into the bottom portion of the master tubing and feed it in as far as you can..

Now! Lets go ahead and grease the Springs before putting it back together....I got a tub of Multi-purpose grease from the local hardware store

Remove the springs from the lift tubes...they should slide right out

I dipped the end right into the Grease :

Then insert the end back into the lift tube:

I used an old Rag to apply grease :

I coated small sections at a time and would slide the greased spring back into the lift

Repeat the process for the springs that go into the master tube :

push the lift springs all the way back into place and screw/bolt everything back up :

Install the new cable on your Winch.......and....

Crank it up , and GO CAMPING~
