Dream changed Pacquiao’s life
March 19th, 2012

By John F. McKenna (McJack): Filipino icon Welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KO’s) says that a vision he saw in a dream is responsible for his new found commitment to God. According to Manny, the dream he had earlier this year has had a huge impact on his life. Pacquiao revealed that in the dream God told him to retire soon. It was at that point that Manny gave up the vices in his life including the late night partying, gambling and drinking. Pacquiao at that time also decided to sell the farms where he raised the chickens used for cockfighting.

Pacquiao was quoted by GMA NEWS saying:

“I will not stay long in boxing because He said: ‘You have done enough. You have made yourself famous, but this is harmful.’”

Pacquiao was dead serious and somber when he made the comments about the vision he saw in the dream. When asked if his new found fervor and commitment to religion would impact his performance in the ring Manny responded by saying:

“I will do my work in the ring.”

“Pacman” became an international sensation by winning world titles in eight divisions as he rose up through the weight classes. Manny went on to parlay his fame as a boxer into riches not only in the ring, but also in entertainment in his native Philippines where he launched a singing career. Pacquiao was also elected to congress in Sarangani Province. In addition Manny has signed lucrative endorsement deals which will bring him further riches in future years.

Earlier this year another effort was made to work out a deal in which Pacquiao would meet in the ring with the other superstar in boxing undefeated WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26 KO’s). But other than send messages out on his Twitter account Floyd never allowed himself to engage in any serious negotiations.

The one time Pacquiao and Mayweather communicated on the phone, Floyd offered Manny $40 million up front. The proviso however was that Mayweather would get to keep the approximately $160 million Pay Per View (PPV) revenue. Of course the Pacquiao camp correctly perceived that offer as Mayweather not really wanting the fight.

Mayweather is quick to point out that Pacquiao will make more money fighting him than anyone else. What Floyd conveniently leaves out however is that the very same thing is true for Mayweather. Floyd cannot bring in the same revenue fighting any other fighter as he can against Pacquiao. Pacquiao in fact has brought more money in on PPV than Mayweather has for his comparable last three fights. Pacquiao’s live gate revenue is also higher than Mayweather’s.

Bradley might be his last fight--after a close fight with marquez and failing to put mosley away he seems to not have his killer instinct anymore--sometimes things are not what they seem--if the old paquaio is back he destroys bradley

Floyd will fight the Argentinian before the Filipino, he wont messed the Mega event I assure you of that. Now after beating Sergio, would the combo let the Filipino lose to PBF or retire?

I didn't have a dream but I knew that without juice the Pac was over soon. Next, he'll be canonized.

He had no animosity toward Mosley - it was just "regular work" for him. Pacquiao has too much on his plate, even if he tries to be focused at his work in the ring. However, he would want to retire in blazing colors. He really has to set aside all that has transpired in his life. I do think he will put away Bradley!

Be fair, Ramon. If you saw the fight, you must have seen the countless times they "touched globes". You also saw how Mosley refused to engage him. Those are the kind of fights that do end up UD - no matter what one boxer wants to do. (Good example - Re: Donaire vs. Narvaez.)

One thing Pacquiao did not do is "suckerpunch" Mosley. Hehehe!

As for Bradley, I do think Bradley believes he is quite capable of beating Pacquiao. Thus, he will "engage" Manny - leading with his head! And that will be his mistake. He opens himself up to Pacquiao's lethal left hook.

I love the argument that Manny is washed up and would loose to Floyd because Manny didn't knock out Mosley. The only reason I can think of that people would say that is because Floyd knocked out Mosley and Manny didn't. Oh my bad, Floyd didn't knock out Mosley. Must because Floyd knocked down Mosley more then Manny did? We all know that Mosley just stood there and let Floyd pot shot him. Even with all the free punches, Floyd never hurt Mosley. Actually, either one of the 2 punches that Mosley threw, hurt Floyd more then all of Floyd's punches combined hurt Mosley.

Yes, Manny struggled against Marquez for the 3rd time, but at least he didn't come in greatly outweighing him in the fight, nor did he have to sucker punch him to get him out of there.

I'm a big Pacquiao fan, but he's put that seed of doubt in my mind with his latest performances. He's got a lot on his mind and now if he dreams are guiding him I'm not sure he's got that killer instinct. Of course, a phenomenal fight with Bradley will change my mind.

PS, ever since Aqua posted the picture of Jinkee, I've been dreaming about her! Maybe Manny needs some dream counseling....or I do.

I'd like to help you have a most exquisite dream, Chig....

Let me just say this again. I have been a keen observer of Pacman and have made a lot of mental notes concerning his comportment before, during, and after his fights. Although Marquez is by far the only boxer he had (1) dominated, (2) let of the hook, and (3) had difficulty figuring out at later rounds, that last fight was not a typical Pacquiao fight. He was clearly not as sharp; not as focus; not as effective; not as determined. And yes, he did not have the "killer instinct". However, I dug a little more than usual to figure out what could have caused all of that. One of them is Jinkee! The other was Ariza and Koncz. Lastly, it was VisionQwest. And then there was the violent outburst at his hotel room the eve of the fight. He slammed his cell phone on the night table.

Pac is different now, as a person; as a boxer, he considers it "work" and values putting in 100%. No more distractions for him like before. He will work very hard. It won't be easy for Bradley to keep his unbeaten record.

Have fun with Jinkee!

His wife certainly isn't as religious as he appears to be and that's bad. She isn't the last Coke in the dessert. With his money and fame I'm sure he can do much better. Excuses can only convince the ones who gives them. I would rather say that his performance is in decline for several reasons. The first one is still being discussed by the Mayweather team, the second will be known by his performance against a lower class undefeated boxer in his upcoming event. I, just like you mention in the Martinez fight, smell an upset coming and a retirement on the making. JMO
