Roper by whirlpol dishwasher!

hi guys

i have a 4-5 year old dishwasher
when i put the soap puck in the dispenser it does not open any more at all,when it should in the wash cycle
the soap dispenser door does close pretty tight , tighter than before , and i dont know what makes it open on the wash cycle
any ideas?

Have no idea about the whirlpool but if you take the inside of the door off you can get at the mechanism ...probably the spring is broke or old...they are all spring loaded...
