Can I use a mig welder for new cars without disconnecting a battery
I have wed on newer cars and haven't had a problem yet.
From my understanding you disconnect the battery to prevent damage to the voltage regulator circuits in the alternator. There is a risk of damaging other modules too.
Why not disconnect the battery? Just write down the radio code and presets... If you have memory seats/mirrors, I don't know if the settings will survive a battery disconnect, but I guess that depends on the car.
Yes I have welded on them ,sorry for the mis-spelled words. I do exhaust work on just about anything. you have to weld some of the connections together to get a good job.Quote:

Just disconnect the battery, why would you not spent 30 second to do that. I would never weld on any vehicle without disconnecting the negative battery post. It's a rule of thumb...
