Sears Kicks Off 'Super Bowl' HDTV Sale

Washington, D.C. (January 22, 2010) -- Sears today is launching a Super Bowl sale on HDTVs, including an eight percent instant savings on sets 46 inches or larger.

The sale also includes a $150 savings on a Zenith 42-inch Plasma HDTV; the set, regularly $649, will be priced at $499.

The retailer will also discount a Samsung 46-inch LED HDTV by $900; the discount price will be $1,599.

And Sears will provide a free Blu-ray player with the purchase of select Samsung HDTVs from Sunday, Jan. 24 to Saturday, February 6.

Sears, like other retailers, is hoping that the Super Bowl will drive large-screen HDTV sales as it has done in previous years. However, due to the recession, consumers have shown a reluctance now to purchase big ticket items
