Reviving Viewsat Xtreme

Hello Everyone,
I am trying to revive a Veiwsat Xtreme that I got from a friend of mine to work on fta. I has been a while since he used it and whenever I power up the Viewsat Xtreme, I am encountering two problems. These two problems are as follows:

(1) When the Viewsat Xtreme is powered up, I am seeing all dashes across the display and nothing else and also it does not go pass that stage. Try using the remote on the box and it is unresponsive.

(2) I tried loading any file to my Viewsat Xtreme using a usb to null cable and anytime I open up the viewsat loader v2, it gives me a com port error. Try changing to different ports, and I am still getting the same message.

I am thinking about Jtag but I cannot find any information on how to Jtag a Veiwsat Xtreme. Thanks in advance for any help or assistance.

Make sure your setting are correct for the comport on your computer

Thanks holly2012 for your assistance. It is really appreciated. I would continue selecting the different com ports in the loader until I get one to work.
