Have had my CW 4000 for a long time now and there was a way to go wireless but can not remember how. Im getting screwed on my internet connection by verizon and if I can do this it will save me lots of money with unlimited data. Want to use a wireless usb adapter to connect to hotspot with unlimited data..

Network Setup
● Choose Enable Network: Yes to enable the network
● Choose Enable Network : No to disable the network.
● Enter the Name you want your Media Center to be identified as on your network.
This variable should be a unique name so that it does not conflict with any other
client machines on your home network.
● Enter the Workgroup you want your Media Center to belong to. This variable
should be the same as the rest of your home network.
● 'Obtain Address' assumes DHCP is being used on the network and needs no
further setup. (Most home networks with a router will use DHCP as a network
configuration)
● Enter Network Information if static addressing is being used. The IP Address,
Gateway, Net Mask and, DNS boxes need to be filled as appropriate for the
network.
● Press the blue button to save the changes
● Press the red button to view the Current IP
(useful information for diagnosis and connecting to network shares)
Wireless Network (optional hardware)
● Highlight the Device field and select Wireless.
● Press the yellow configure button to present the wireless screen.
● Highlight the Scan button and press enter to present the scan screen.
● Press the red scan button to perform a scan for visible wireless networks.
● Highlight your wireless network in the list and press the blue button.
● Network SSID is typically a 32 character alphanumeric key uniquely identifying a wireless LAN (local area network)
● Security Type specifies the type of encryption used if any.
● OPEN signifies no encryption. (CAUTION: This setting is mainly for testing)
● WEP is a deprecated form of encryption known to have weaknesses.
● WPA is an intermediate form of encryption to take the place of WEP.
● WPA2 in an advanced form of encryption mandatory in all new devices to
bear the Wi-Fi trademark.
● Key type can be a passphrase or hexadecimal depending on the requirements.
● Algorithm signifies the protocol type used in conjunction with the encryption type.
(ie. WPA TKIP is known to have some vulnerablilities)
● Once the fields are correct press the blue button to save.

Can't say yes or no you will just need to try . Remember to turn it off and on a couple of times so it will lowed what it needs to in the boot founder . Let us know if it works for you.

1. How do I add native wireless support to my CW-LMC?
As of the 1.0.1.17 software release a wireless device driver has been included for a specific chipset.
To add native wireless support to your CW-LMC you would need to connect a wireless device that uses the RT-3070 chipset.
Instructions for setting up this style of wireless networking can be found in the user manual.
2. I dont have a RT-3070 wireless device. Is there another way to set up wireless networking?
If your CW-LMC does not have a RT-3070 wireless device.
Wireless networking can be achieved through the use of a "Wireless Gaming Adapter" or Wireless bridge.
These devices connect to the ethernet port and provide a bridge to a wireless network.

No sir sure can not. I can not select wireless because its not there. I think it was a update to put it on there but dont know where to find it these days..
Yes it was there before 17r2 may still be there on back end will need to look . Take a look at the last part of the link I posted

If I'm not mistaken you need to first set up your X-box wireless device with/thru your X-box and get that working with your wireless system. Once that works you can simply shut it down and swap the adapter over to your CW-3000HD.
Things to make note of:
-Make sure the wireless router accepts bridge mode. Some routers can get this functionality with the Linux-based firmware DD-WRT.
-Make sure the name used is the same for the wireless device and the wireless router (it is case-sensitive)

You are 100% accurate, without modifying the firmware on the MS MN-740 you have to connect it to the X-box to set it up. I used my X-box 360 to set mine up, it doesn't have to be an original x-box which it was intended for.
I would read the whole link makes sense that they removed it . Just to much work to make it work for all options.

I have a Update on MN-740 adapter. It does work but only when set router to WEP and will NOT work on router set at WPA. THXS for your help.

Do yourself a favor, buy a linksys router and reprogram with dd-wrt, turn it into a wireless bridge and eliminate all your problems, The Wifi drivers on the CW3000/cw4000 never worked properly. plug reprogrammed router in to ethernet port on CW and pull power from unit, That is how mine is hooked up.
