Options to add 82 to existing 1000.2 with 110/119/129

I have an existing 1000.2 setup correctly with 110/119/129, but I would like to add 82 and possibly 91. I have verified that I'm in footprint of 82/91. I understand that 82 has HD programming, and 91 SD, so I'm mainly looking for 82. Right now I have 2 receivers wired directly to ports 1/2 of my 1000.2, and I have a power inserter wired to port 3. I just want to confirm my understanding of my options.

1) Add a second dish (500) to my existing setup.
1a) Use a standard circular LNB, which will give me 82 only. This can be wired to port 4 of my 1000.2 LNB.
1b) User a dish pro twin LNB that will give 82+91, but needs to then be wired to a dpp44 switch, along with my 1000.2

2) Can I add a motor to my existing 1000.2 that will re-point it to 82/91 upon tuning? I understand the 1000.2 can pick up both, as they've got the same 9 degree distance as 110/119. Would the motor option work with 1000.2?

3) I can replace my dish with an elliptical 36" dish with 6 LNB's. The downside is that 82 & 129 are so widely apart that I may get poor signal quality on those birds. Is this a correct understanding?

I would like to avoid installing a 2nd dish if I can get satisfactory results without it. My goal is to get 82/110/119/129 and if I get any other birds, that's a bonus. Experts, please let me know what you think.

If all you really want is 82w then your best option would be 1b, you can get a motor but it is used with only 1 lnb and not your 1000.2. I have heard of people getting 6 sats with 1 dish but it would be hard and you would get lots of rain-fade in bad weather. You can't run a dish pro twin into a dpp44 switch along with your 1000.2, you can only run a single lnb into port 4 as the other 3 ports would be taken up by your 1000.2

Move the power inserter to port # 1 or you could FUBAR the LNB, the #1 port is designed to be the power input as most OEM installs use the #1 port first.

Dish pro LNB's will only allow Diseqc 4 ports no matter what setup you use, they will not allow 5 satellites.

And if you going to use a motor the replace the D1000 LNB with a single 4 output type LNB.

On an elliptical dish the only one that may work for 129 and 82 would be one from Wave Frontier as it has a 54 degree beam-width, but it take special LNB's.

So best thing is to just wire add a 500 and wire it directly into my port4 on 1000.2 LNB, yes? And can I use any LNB on the 500, or do I need a specific LNB?

Don't use a Dish 500 LNB (DP twin) as it has an internal switch, the two will get hopelessly confused, use a DP pro single (only one that will work with a Dish 1000 LNB) and then feed it to the #4 port on the Dish 1000 LNB.

And be sure to move the power feed to the #1 receiver port.

And don't use the power injector receiver port with an FTA receiver the two don't mix too good.

For a single LNB, does it matter if I get a "Dish Pro Single LNB" versus "Dish Legacy Single LNB". Are they different? In the image linked below, it appears they are different. Can I get either one?

Get the Dish Pro single, the Dish legacy LNB is not compatible with a DP Pro 1000 LNB.

I'm looking to finally add the 2nd satellite to get 82w. I'm in the pacific northwest US, and satbeams website shows me inside the footprint but not by alot. It says I should use recommended dish size 70cm / 27.6in. Online it says the Dish 500 is 24 x 28 x 8 inches. Will this be good enough? I am thinking I will get a Dish 500 with a Dish Pro Single LNB, and wire that into port#4 of my existing 1000.2 LNB. This should let my 2 receivers simultaneously view any programming on 82/110/119/129. Will the Dish 500 work, or will I need one of those generic 33" type dishes? And the Dish Pro Single LNB is the ONLY LNB I could use wired into my 1000.2 LNB, right? Could I use a Dish 500 with the Twin LNB for 82+91 and wire that, along with my 1000.2, into a separate diseq switch? It is difficult to tell what size dish will work in different areas, the suggestions you get from satbeams and other websites are just estimates at best, you are best to find someone who is actually at your location and ask them what they are using for the sat you want to get. Bigger is always better plus you have to consider rain-fade/weather and such, if it were me I would go with a 33" or 36" dish with a single DP lnb going into port 4 on your 1000.2 to get 82W. This would keep the extra power consumption to a minimum.

Thanks, I will take your suggestion. Do I need a special adapter to fit the DP Single LNB on a generic 36" dish? The photos I see online look like it won't natively fit.

Hi i have a bell dish for sat. 110 and 119 but i can scan in 82 and 91 with a full signal maybe if you could find a bell dish that would solve your problem .

The DP single lnb has what is called a "D" shaped end on it, it would be best if you found a dish that also has the "D" shaped arm on it to fit the lnb properly but there are adapters you can get.

A standard Dish 500 for 82/91 or 110/119 will work fine with a DP single LNB on it, just remember that the dish needs to be pointing in between the two satellites as it is a dual satellite dish, just use the pointing information for 82/91, and the LNB will be mounted on the right hand side of the dual mount (looking from the back of the dish) as the signals cross after they reflect off the dishes pan.

And a note to all, 129W has a very fnny foot print, in some areas you can get it on a pie plate, but in others you need at least a 1 meter dish, I practically live right under it and need a 1 meter dish to get a stable signal on it.

satbeams.com can give you an idea on the size dish needed for stable reception on 129W for most locations in North America, be sure to use the CONUS beam when looking up the data.
