Connecting HD to XRS 4500

I just received my HD for my xrs4500 It is a 1TB do I format it connected to the Buzz Box? Anyone recorded on one? Any help would be appreciated.

format it as removable storage

then after in live tv press menu/pvr/pvr options and select that drive
