They dont mod them anymore for 40 channels, they all come stock with 40, and bestbuy dot com has them.
Code:https://www.bestbuy.com/site/shop/cobra-40-channel-cb-radio
Then I'll have to buy one and mod it my self, I prefer the upper and lower side band functions that a normal CB radio doesn't have.........TP
Then you want a Cobra 148 GTL, it has USB and LSB, and I cant give you links to the modded ones as I'm a ham.
This is the closest to the cobra, the cobra model you mentioned is discontinued.......check the info if I'm wrong..........TPCode:https://www.bellscb.com/products/cbradios/galaxy/galaxy_959-B.html
The Uniden Bearcat 980 is a good one.
And too bad the Cobra is discontinued, it was a very good radio.
And after looking around I find the some CB radios now come with FM modulation, man what a change.
That is why I loved the President and the Ranger 2950.........TP
Will check it out, thanks for the input
Terryl, the President Lincoln and the Ranger 2950 are 10M radios modified for Citizen's Band, I do remember the cobra you mentioned, I actually had one long ago with a Midland and Lafayette, the Lafayette was so old it had 23 channels only
My first radio only had 6 channels, and to change to other channels (other then the 6 you had) you had to change crystals.
That is an oldie, I forgot about those, good hobby back in the day, I used to have a penetrator 500 for antena, I guess I will make my own this time.........TP
Had a browning eagle with a nice 100 watt linear amp
moonraker antenna
Made contacts to as far as europe back in the late 60's early seventies from the east coast
