Actor Donald Sutherland dies at 88

Donald Sutherland has died at age 88 following a long illness.


The veteran actor appeared in at least 90 movies such as M*A*S*H, Ordinary People and The Hunger Games in a six-decade career playing a wide range of characters,

"With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away," said his son, Kiefer Sutherland, also an actor. "I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived."

Sutherland was never nominated for a competitive Oscar but was awarded in November 2017 with an honorary statuette by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at its Governors Awards.
