There is no need to change the format. The Wii will play either format. The only thing you really need to do is to make sure to rip out any firmware updates. This is important because if you load a pal game on a ntsc unit and take a firmware update it will brick it. SO be carefual and get the program that rips it.

If you are soft modded and using an external hard drive. wbfs will allow you to force the game to load in ntsc. This is necessary if you are using a ntsc system as the pal games appear in black and white.
