If I could turn the clock back
If I could turn the clock back, to many years long ago
I wouldn’t be in mourning, for all the friends I know
All our loving soldiers, would be with their families this day
I wouldn’t need to wear my poppy, this Remembrance Day.
If I could turn the clock back, to the time when life was fun
We wouldn’t have to fear the violence, we wouldn’t have to run
Instead we could be friends, and share the happy times
And sing the good old songs, and all keep in rhyme.
If I could turn the clock back, even to the days of our youth
Of how we could change the world, and listen to the truth
To see the waters flow, from the rivers and the streams
To the big blue ocean, where they carry all our dreams.
But then if I turned the clock back, to that time long ago
Would I be here today, would I even know you
I’m glad the clocks go back, for just an hour this time
I am your friend, and I am happy you are mine
I cant turn the clock back, to those many years ago
Today we have conflicts, and the poppies, still grow and grow
And this November the 11th, I will wear my poppy Red.
And say a prayer for our fallen heroes, as I sleep safely in my bed.
