Sears Kenmore washer

I have a Sears Kenmore 80 series model 110-92581810 top loading washer.

I goes into wash cycle just fine but wont drain or spin, on checking the door switch it looks to be working (correct way to test) as I can some times get the pump to start (pushing it a bit further in with screwdriver) but it wont finish the cycle.

Is it a bad door switch (cheaper then the next part) or the timer its self?

Ideas on how to test this?

Or how to safely bypass the door switch, as there is 110VAC on it.

If it’s the door switch I will fix it, if it’s the timer then its time for the trebuchet test (large catapult) and go out and buy a new one.

we had trouble with a washer not draining before and it was the drain hose. it has to be pretty much straight up from the washer and then to the drain pipe. i hope that makes sense.

I checked that, I can get to drain but intermittently, and it wont go into the spin cycle, my thinking is a bunko door safety switch.

Discount the unit from the wall outlet and remove the switch. you can connect the 2 wires together and the machine will think the lid is down all the time, and it should run thru its cycle sequence. Plug cord in and check it out.

The switch should be a normally open switch. Test for continuity with the switch in it's "normal" state (simulate door open). There should be no continuity. Then simulate door closed, and there should be continuity. If there is not, the switch has gone bad.

(perform these tests with the power disconnected)

After many trials and experiments and a lot of mopping the floor, I finally got around to the back (the washer was full of water) found the switch connections and did what Deolav mentioned and by passed the switch, that got it working, as I'm the only one around that uses the machine I will put a sign on it saying "don't disturb the science experiment) and leave it all torn apart to remind me to put it back together when I get a chance.

did you replace any parts on yours? .... I'm going to tackle mine tonite...my problem is the wash works but then stop and will not continue to spin or rinse?? I'd wait for a while but the timer move till end OFF mode. I bought a lid switch assembly and will see if that is the problem. :noidea: working with a blindfold ..:)

Mine was doing the same thing...I suspected the lid switch, but had a guy come out. He assured me it was the timer $169.00...Didn't work:bawl:. I bought a new LG front load washer & dryer. I really like the cheaper power bill, but sometimes it takes two washings to get the dairy barn smell out, where the old top load was only one.

Mine was the lid switch, I got a new one for $29 and replaced it, it has worked flawlessly since.

My problem is that living so far from a town or big city, they want the trip charge upfront first, then they will look at it, some places quoted a $100 to $120 trip charge, that's when I decided to fix it my self.

Or go back to the flat rock and wash board.

Try a 1/2 cup of baking soda in your wash Gold, it should get the smell out.
