Sure, they bricked everyone's 3900 if not fully bricked it is as good as a brick at this present time. If a fix is made available TODAY. Then faith will be restored. I don't see that happening though. It was a nice box. I can't see them making the firmware available to everyone and not the regular Joe is going to be able to fix their own box if they do make firmware available. The regular Joe being the guy that just wants to watch TV. If anything they will provide some sort of fix and you can reset box and fix using mini SD card. That is what I envision anyways. I could be wrong...
Just testing it now
Will be released as a file you can use from a USB Drive and installed through Android Recovery Menu
Nothing on your box gets erased either, unless you erased it yourself already.
Can some one tell me where the reset button is on these, looked all over it but can't seem to find it lol, never mind, found it in the av hole
Thanks for directions, quick fix. To all attempting good luck....if old & feeble like me an extra set of calm, capable hands will help. After several attempts to find(feel) for reset button inside A/V output hole; while simultaneously applying power to get to Android recovery mode the remote volume up/down keys didn't respond to highlight ext USB. After another half-dozen attempts at getting to recovery screen volume keys finally worked. Everything seems OK.
Zorro can you please post a direct download link to the recovery file i cant seems to get the file from the code that is posted please post a direct link that i can download it and fix my 3900 please.
The problem now is the recent version of Buzz TV 2 that was downloaded. All I get now is a black screen upon loading of the program and it crashes back to the main screen. What I am doing now is a factory reset, disconnecting all network connections, and disabling updates in the Buzz Updater.
As others have stated, the box was working fine. Why provide a botched update that just turned these boxes into doorstops?
I was troubleshooting the STB earlier this morning using recovery mode. Played around with the MyGica ATV1960 firmware for a bit while Buzz was getting things sorted. Formatted data/cache prior to installing the fixed firmware. I have access to prior versions of the Buzz TV 2 APK, so I'll force it on top if I have to. 2.0 (247) just crashes. The prior version did not.
If you're not a buzz customer and bought the box from Amazon, you wouldn't have been privy to that kind of information. But alas, if you guys want to keep support these Chinese Amlogic crap-boxes, that's up to you. Frankly, I'm done with them.
If you read my original post, yes, I tried the recovery image. The recovery image comes with 2.0 (207) build of the BuzzTV 2.0 application. When you run it, it phones home to Buzz and downloads 2.0 (247) of BuzzTV 2.0 application. After 30 seconds, it crashes out. Run it again, it only shows a black screen. If I do a Force Stop and clear the cache, it runs again, but only for 30 seconds prior to crashing.
As a troubleshooting measure, I installed the BuzzTV 1.6 (108), which runs absolutely fine. If I try to force a different build of 2.0 on top of build 247, it comes back as a corrupt APK. I know that's not the case as I can install it just fine on other Android devices.
As for now, I am more than satisfied with running BuzzTV 1.6 as it doesn't look any different from 2.0. The remote works as well, so even better.
So saying that only a fool would try to fix it themselves, is a red herring. I believe in thinking outside the box. You should try it some time. Many fixes for Android devices come from third party developers that got fed up with a manufacturers' crappy ROM's. S90x and S912 boxes are modded all the time with better ROM's such as atvXperience.
So again, like many other users have said on this about compared to three website locals - Buzz crapped the bed big time.
hahaha
recovery image didn't change my buzz app version
you screwed the pooch by making it a non buzz box by going back to mygica
as for being a fool well you could have sent the box back but very unlikely now seeing as you screwed with it
buzz fixed their mistake in less than 36 hours so perhaps that's why I stand behind their product
even if they hadn't like I said it could have been sent to them to be fixed
Nice fix thank you everyone
If you bought a buzz from amazon are you not a buzz customer? no?
Since most of the buzz boxes on amazon are sold directly by buzz would it not occur to you to contact the seller?
Other buzz users seem to have googled there way to a fix
Im starting to get a little tired of new users coming to our site and breaking the rules
I'm willing to bet that the fix was for all, regardless of sale origin.Don't forget that THEY fubared the the boxes, so they took immediate action.I will say this:whatever they lack in coding skills is offset by the speed of their support.I highly doubt any of the other teams would have acted as quickly.Kudos to the Buzz people for getting it done.
