It's inevitable. It's a cutthroat market for IPTV sever owners. When one service upgrades to a more efficient codec that offers a higher picture quality with lower bandwidth, everyone else will follow or will be left behind in the herd. End users will have to buy/upgrade new boxes to adapt or be left behind as well.Quote:

Truth is that even the cheapest S905X android boxes even on amazon.ca can handle h265. They can easily be had between $40 and $50 CDN including free shipping, and typically no tax, and quick delivery from amazon. You don't need any expensive box to be able to decode h265. The PI was never really designed for anything intensive, and for licensing purposes (to keep costs down) they even left stuff like MPEG2 decoding out of the default unit if I remember correctly. Great flexible little unit, but no specialized decoding hardware.Quote:

I just tried it on my old A95X (S905X based, 8GB storage and 1GB RAM) box, which I had picked up for $30 during a lightning deal quite a while back, and using the OK2 APK, it works perfectly fine, and there is no lag/syn issues. I tested with the MTL channels which I know are h265. I just had to change the decoder to "native" instead of "hw" which is the default, and it works flawlessly. And surprisingly the channel changes were not that much slower than my Beelink GT1 which is S912 based.

My Ok2 is terrible since the upgrade... freezing and the lip syncing is way off...
Hopefully these things get fixed. Flawless on the Mag..
