Let's see if they don't refund the money after purchase like other parts I tried.....thanks
Attachment 29510Attachment 29511all thrust washer I have replaced with new ones, all Torrington Bearing also replaced...
Attachment 29512 The overdrive piston bearing will be install last
All Torrington bearing were good but since the transmission is open I prefer to do the job one time........
Noof, quick question/consult.....I was given many supposedly upgrades to the overdrive brake clutch pack, my A500/42RE has only 3 clutches steels in between and at both ends a pressure plate, one thicker than the other, I was suggested to remove one of the pressure plate and add more clutches and steels and obviously measure the clearance between this pack the spacer (selective, I have 3 different sizes) and Torrington bearing........I can go by the book on this but I prefer to hear what you think on this "upgrade".....I was suggested to do illustration #4 or at least #3

Yes, at eBay, had to buy a kit that has all the snap rings of the Overdrive section only
If you're removing the steel that's adjacent to the apply piston in the clutch, don't do it.What you gain in friction area, you lose in clutch strength. The thick steel is there for a good reason.I would stick to the factory allocation. After all, it came with that clutch configuration & worked well for some time. You do this build right & it will outlast your Jeep.
Thanks, that is what I wanted to hear.
Got the snap ring, Saturday will take the overdrive unit to the hydraulic press, the oil cooler fittings a friend who lives in Kentucky is going to send them to me, every place I tried it ended up refunding the money with shipping included.....Attachment 29526
The Overdrive is fully assembled, the overdrive brake clutch pressure plate and reaction plate were damaged my friend with a lathe fixed both surfaces and this is what he did, from both plates he took from the surfaces enough to fit one clutch and one plate, I checked the clearance used the spacer fix from sonnax, now I am assembling the case, both planetary are installed, I am going to recheck clearance on the drums as specified in the ATSG book before installing them in the case..........TP
Transmission is up, hold with 2 bolts, torque converter with 1 quart of ATF+4 in it, Transmission mount installed I also installed the speed sensor and the speedometer sensor, tomorrow will finish starting with the bolts remaining and the torque converter bolts and starter, tube for dipstick and finally the drive shaft, after I make sure all is torqued will install the oil cooler lines and final touch the fluid.........will report if doesn't rain again..........thanks for the help TP.
