Jynxbox Android HD Feedback
I’ve been up nearly half the night playing with this new Jynxbox Android HD unit. So far I’m very impressed with what I see. First thing I had to do was mount a micro sd drive onto the box which is very easy. The onboard cache is already full of apps that the manufacture predicts the user will find useful and there’s no more room for other data. These “custom” apps are not embedded in the firmware they can deleted at any time.

Android is an operating system designed for smart phones and tablets. I think the biggest hurdle the Jynx team had or any other for that matter, would be to emulate the swipe screen action. What they have done is provided a Bluetooth powered remote, where the user holds down a button and makes hand gestures to emulate the swipe.(kind of like the Nintendo wii). It takes a little bit of getting used to but it’s a very effective way to navigate. For instance I have learned that simple little wrist gestures are as equally affective as a three foot arm movement. Lol (it’s quite comical watching someone learn). Another thing that I’m fully impressed with is the little wand pro remote keyboard. It’s a Bluetooth powered thumb driven keyboard/mouse combo. If your familiar with where all the buttons are on a traditional keyboard you will quickly adapt to this little device. Since it’s Bluetooth you don’t have to be in the line of site to use it. Another option available is to use a traditional Bluetooth mouse and keyboard for the setup and then use the wands for operation.. I believe you are going to need to learn the wand to fully experience the Android HD in its entirety

User friendliness: I can see a few learning curbs with this device. For one, how to affectively control the wands and two where to find all the custom repositories for the xmbc media player, there is lots of information out there and hopefully some members will bring it here. If you have any experience with a smart phone or tablet, particularly and Android smart phone or tablet you will be right at home with this device. It will not be so much a matter of how to do things it will be more a matter of what the user wants and what they have to download to get it.
Internet browser: Just like the smart phones any browser is available for this device. The two big contenders are the Google chrome browser and the firefox browser. These two mentioned browsers are able to sync data from your main PC and copy all your saved bookmarks and passwords to your android device. So far I’m leaning toward the Google Chrome browser as it’s more appealing to the eye and the most similar to a regular PC.

Is it rooted: Unlike most other micro media boxes you have full administrator privileges, which gives the user the option to transform the box into whatever you can dream up.

Proxy/VPN Capabilities: The Android OS is fully adaptable to all VPNs and proxies without downloading any apps or complicated configurations.
Android as a mini HTPC: I have spent years and good money after bad in my quest for the ultimate HTPC. I’ve tried nearly everything to seek the right combination of ease of use, versatility, and practicality. So far the Jynxbox Android HD is the closest thing I’ve come across that covers all the following criteria.
