Two kinds of 3D glasses I know of. The "red~blue" kind and the "shuttering" kind. The red blue are used when you see a "3D" picture with a red tinge around one side. The shuttering kind requires a connection from the glasses to the TV to work. Essentially one eye gets a picture and then the other eye. the change rate and sequence is determined by the TV and the 3D program you are watching.
