I'm not sure if it's the multiple story lines, my own memories of parental sacrifice or that damn piano riff plucking at the heartstrings but this Proctor & Gamble Olympics ad almost triggered a strange salt watery discharge from my eyes.
It's selling everything from batteries to laundry detergent, but this should certainly get people buying. It harks back to the 80s when long distance phone commercials had people weeping openly on their couch. But this is... this is... just give me a minute...
We all know how important a Sports Mom (or Dad!) is to any athlete's career but here we see that journey from their perspective -- early wake-ups, hopeful gazes, loud cheering, worried glances and all. The whole everyone-in-the-world-is-the-same vibe also helps.
