Better to have a remote ballast.
Digital ballasts even better, less noise.

I once had a 220v 100w incandescent bulb I used on 120v as a porch light.It was on continuously (except for power blackouts)for 10 years before burning out.Dim,but good enough for a porch light.

neighbours must be happy I have AC and insulated cause 1500 watts would drive them nuts...lol
