Has anyone found a solution for the choppy picture yet - I notice it mostly on sports channels or fast action sequences?

Ufortunatly a solution will not be possible without a new bin file and that is not going to happen cause there are no more coders
    willing to do this anymore

I noticed picture gets choppy on sat 82 only and on fast moving action (ex. hockey) but only at night during the day its fine
I wonder if it has something to do with the servers being overloaded ( more users at night)

Same problem here for quite a while. I find it only with live sporting events..especially hockey. Sometimes it's horrendous and other times its fine. No pattern at all.

I found a solution: Go to your settings and change the input from 1080i to your right or left a couple of times. It gets rid of the problem for a while.

Go to: A/V Setting either from the Menu OR by pushing the YELLOW button on your remote, go down to HDMI Input and change it to your right or left untill you see the picture is back to normal, even on the fast moving Hockey games.

Thinking about getting the Sonicview 8000 HD. Is the picture still choppy on some of the North channels?

Still bumpy ....best results setting resolution to 720P.Better still using component rather than hdmi.SV 8000 is better suited to south.

The HDMI connection is a common issue on the SV8000, I switched to component no more problems
Also if you still have the dongle/Hub directly connected or plugged in to rear of the SV8000 that is a issue to.
And like The NOOF said best results setting resolution to 720P.

its a little bit to get it up and running, picture quality is better than the sonicview, BUT, i think i have something set up wrong, and the system is sidless, which means i can only go on the cache port and don't get access to all the channels.this is only a problem if you want to watch something that nobody else is watching.
