    Default Openbox S10 Freezes

If you leave the S10 on all night or any long time without pressing any remote buttons it will freeze. Not sure how long but maybe around 6 hours. Normally this is no problem but a guy here is using it on AMC21 (Claro P.R./PBS) for his little commercial cable TV system. When they come in every morning to the control room the S10 is frozen and needs a reboot.

    Any ideas for a solution?

could be a heat problem or could be it needs a different rev of firmware.
Since there hasn't been any new firmware in 1.5 years, the firmware choices are pretty limited.
I would pop the cover off and maybe put an old cpu fan on the processor.

I believe the new files only update sat/channel lists.

I agree with you Hondoharry. I would suggest that you try one of the old firmwares..... the power down function doesn't work from the remote and the dvr file structure is different but the freeze recovery worked much better in my opinion and my box ran cooler. Just my opinion.

Buy a $15US timer and set it to turn the box off then on after 1 minute or whatever is the smallest interval. I use that trick on the translators that I volunteer with to reset the digitalTV boxes at the remote RX site.

Course the $ for a new box is not that much so you might just replace the box and keep it as spare equip.

Did upgrading the software fix this problem because i am experiencing the same freezing after leaving the receiver on for a few hours, the box is not even getting hot.I am running version C2HS2-11-10-10:0579CMT.I am on AMC 21 satellite as well.
