Default Installing Dish on Brick Wall

Need advice on bolting a dish onto a brick wall. Do I have to drill holes into the brick and insert plastic or metal sleeves to accommodate the screws that will hold the base of the dish in place? Or is there a better method? I am setting up a 36" dish for a friend. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

I agree with the use of tapcons. Just want to add, use the hex head ones, less likely to strip.

    Will look into using tapcons.

With respect to putting the screws in mortar, the holes in the upper and lower base do not always line up with the mortar. I might get the upper and not the lower mortar, or vice versa. Also, I noticed that bev satellite installations are always solidly anchored on the brick.

    Thanks for the advice.

You do not want to mess with the bond between the bricks and mortar, that will let water in and it will freeze (if it gets that cold in your area) and the bricks will loosen up.

Try to center the hols as best as you can on the brick, use the proper sized Tapcons for the mount, usually a 1/4" to 3/8" by 1 1/2 " to 2" don't go too long as you could go through the brick.

Thanks, Terryl. I will get the tapcons from Home Depot tomorrow.

And don't forget to get the right sized carbide drill, some come with the right size.

And if the heads look a bit small you can use some washers.
