What is rlink? I believe what you need is rq-sssp file.
Yes the CoolSat 5000 needs a dongle, you may have to really look around the internet to see what is available, I think it's called an "R-link".
And no you can't make one. as it interfaces the LAN signals to RS-232 signals, this done with an internal to the dongle chip.

the dongle is no longer useful As jvvh pointed out he need to run rq-sssp on his computer

Thanks for everything and the years of fun and friendship!!
Rlink didn't last very long with the cs receivers and hasn't been around for years.
Those cs receivers were being used with the rlink dongle but that only lasted a couple of months as stated previously they will work with an rq-sssp file on his computer. Excellent receivers for true fta but no hd.
you are right my friends. I do not want to pick a receiver over another but Coolsat and CNX where the best receivers out there. once work, for three months without a problem and good support. It would be nice to see them come back. I like nano too but the only problem is the lack of support. Good support when 1st came out.
"See them come back"? They never left. They were supported till the companies were sued by the provider. Now they are--what, 5 to 8 years old of boxes?--And you still expect support? You can run coolsat with rq-sssp. The cs5k did not have ethernet port, you use a modded-for-rq-sssp type gizmo like xfta or a PC, but neither should be thought of as a "dongle". (my question about r-link was satire).

Nice first post. Check #3 and #6>>>http://www.satfix.net/showthread.php?352-Rules
coolsats will run with xx-client and a straight through serial cable. The only problem is there is no caid fix. You have to do the 8282 thing on every channel. Most of my friends switched to Viewsat and a null cable.
