Default Confused about picking up 87W

I am new to FTA and am interested in picking up the 3 retro channels. I have a FTA receiver and a regular size Dish Network dish with the lnb that came with it.

Can I use this dish? I think I probably need a bigger dish but what lnb is needed to pick up the satellite (I think it is 87W or 83W).

I have read and am really confused by what I read and am wondering if someone can talk in simple terms to me in what I need for this satellite. I am in central PA and I think it is possible for me to pick up this satellite.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

If your talking about the "Retro TV" channels then sorry, they are not available on "Ku" band on 87W, but have moved to "C" band on the same bird.

You would need at least a 6 foot to 10 foot dish with a "C" band linear LNB to get them.

And to get "Ku" band FTA channels on the linear satellites you would need at least a 1 meter dish with a linear kU band LNB on it.

Yes I can confirm that they are on c-band. I have a 7.5' bud and I only get about a 50 to 53 quality strenght. So I would say you should at least get a 10 footer or larger to get that tranponder in nice and strong.

Retro channel tp is s2 and a tough one as mentioned above, 10' at least and an extremely sensitive tuner will be required.

I have azbox ultra clone,linkbox8000 plus and openbox9. The openbox9 does the best job with cband 87w 4000/29125/H and the strongest signal comes in at night time. Hope that helps you if your thinking of invest in a BUD. Maybe you can find someone that is giving one away. Women hate these things constant arguement with wife here.

Easier to pick up than retro channels, but still C band are a couple of channels on 99 degree sat. You can get MeTV and one of LeSea's channels plays lots of old TV series. I watch Svengoolie on Sat night MeTV (and Wonderwoman sometimes). Lesea "FeTV" has a few shows to watch too but is a WorldHarvest Church channel .
