    Default Satlink 6950 Sat Meter

Just got one of these off fleabay. Im kinda having the same prob as the other post with the 6906 meter but did manually put in the sats needed with TPs, frequency and everything. Followed lyngsat.
Well, when I try the meter it only shows me about 50-60% signal and less than 20% quality on dishes that I already have aimed and working well.
Trying 110 and did mess with moving the dish a little I got the quality to move around a bit but no higher than 20%.
Ive double and triple checked all the info I put in and just here scratching my head.
Has anyone messed with one of these or if I have to return it, recommend a good sat meter?
    Thanks

Get a Bird Dog Ultra, you will be happy happy happy....

I use an old CoolSat 5000, with a small 9" flat screen, works wonders.

The Satlink line is not used for US based Dish DTV and BEV satellites, it is mostly used for Asian and European satellites, you have to mod the data base for the North American providers birds, and this may cause false readings.

I did modify all the tps and stuff and actually got it to lock on one tp. Problem is that satellite is aimed perfect and all tps are working....lol
Prolly best bet to just ship it back I assume.
Bird Dog Ultra? Will take a look. Just would rather have the easy way to aims sats without the tv and stuff. Just have the sat meter next to the dish and aim away.
    Thanks for the info.

My CoolSat 5K is mounted inside an old brief case, the LCD display is mounted above it, a long extension cord works wonders, the LCD display is a bit hard to see in direct sunlight but the CoolSat 5K has the best tuner out there, too bad they didn't come up with an HD MPEG4 version.

But it's great for finding those hard to find linear birds.

Well, I did get it to work on 91-110 and 119 but still not so good on 82 and 129. Is it possible that it cant lock in on the HD sats?

From what I've found it only handles QPSK signals. There should be some tp's that carry channels with QPSK modulation.

Yes, you are right....I just tried using those certain TP's on 82 and 129 and it worked....
    Thanks
