    Default Anik 118.8 installation frustration

Trying to add 118.8 using dish 500 but I keep getting 119 instead. This is a test for now so I am using only one LNB with the dish.
    Here are the software settings:
    LNB POWER: ON
    LNB TYPE: STANDARD
    LNB FREQ: 10750
    22KHZ: OFF
    TP FREQ: 12239
    DISECQ: NONE
    MOTOR: OFF
    LEGACY SW: NONE

Any good pointers would be appreciated.

friend you need to post what torpainter ask,but for sat 118-119 you need a special circular lnb hope that's what you got,and try tp, 12297 instead of 12239,and depending where you are you need at least a 30 inch dish.....

Any tp higher than 12224 will be on 119. 11806 may be a better choice. I have picked up anik f3 on a dish 500 using the right lnb, but a bigger dish would be better.

That LNB will not work for 118, only 119 that is why your not getting a thing on 118.

Also the Dish 500 maybe too small for good reliable reception on 118 at your location, go to the link below, zoom into your location and click on it, this should give you an idea on what sized dish would be needed in your area.

Thank you all for the replys.
I know this may be a total noob question but will any of the circular-dual-ku-band-lnbs do? or does it have to have certain parameters only to work?

read post #6. It is a special lower frequency (10750) circular Lnb.

90% of the circular polarized LNB's can't go below 12.2 GHz, there are a few that can, one is from Dish, it covers both 118 and 119, there are a few others, but you should check with satbeams first to see if your going to be wasting your time or not by using the 18" Dish 500 to try and get a signal from 118 in your area, the footprint is not the same all over the US and Canada.

The satellite used for 118 is an older one, it is about 1/2 the output power as the one used for 119.
