    Question Wrong Channel Names

My Sonicview 360 Premier miss labels the BEV channels. Also most of the BEV channels have a * at the beginning of the name, making it impossible to search for a specific channel. It has always been like this, just thought I would see if someone had a fix for this.

Still have this problem. Has no one ever encountered this?

Turn on all your sort by SID options. Then you should have a 1 or 2 before bev channel number.

The numbers are not the problem, all channels have the 2 in front. The problem is, that the channel names are not right and a lot of the channels have a * in front of the name. This makes it impossible to search for a specific channel as the * is not an option on the remote.

Been a while since I was able to get bev this far south but have you tried the sat button on the remote and selecting bev package? Also look in the user settings and see if there is an option in there on going from dish to bev epg or visa versa. Seems years ago there was a way to correct this but I just can't recall it now...just been too long but I'm still noodling it.

Selecting BEV package removes the 2 from the channel numbers, but does nothing to correct the naming errors. Cannot find any option to go from BEV to Dish epg.

Did a search on this site and also on the web in general. Cannot seem to find this problem or a solution to this problem. Not a big deal, but it would be nice to correct this. I have some time on my hands and will continue my search.

When you scanned for channels did the correct sat name popup to confirm your scanning sat that you selected?

Yes, it did. All the channels are the right BEV channels. Just the names are wrong and a lot have the * prior to the name.

From what I can tell from looking inside the FTA code, most coders have a list of names inside the files and the channel ID that the box gets from the stream info gets mapped to that list. One of the coder's jobs was to fix that data as it changed, but the SV boxes have not been supported for years now.
I would say you have to get into the file and switch that data in there so that the data base of the channel list gets mapped right. Or you could dump the channel list to a PC and fix all the names then send that ch list to the box. Six of one and a dozen of the other of which is easier--both just mean that you do a bunch of typing at the PC--maybe download screen shots of the channel lineup from the prov web site.

Thanks for the help. I have a SV 8000 that has a proper channel list. Could I copy this list and transfer it to the SV Premier?

Well I have decided to slowly go through all the channels, and rename and remove the *, in my spare time . Could take quite a while. Need to get a BEV channel list from their site. Then save the channel list in case I need it in the future.

If I were doing it I would write a little code to parse a list from the web and then into the ch list or file data--that is what computers are for.

In going along with jvvh you could try Channel master and upload your list to the pc via RS232 port...then work on it a little along. After you get it like you want download it back to the stb. I've used it some in the past with my Pansat years ago but not sure or remember how well it works with the sonicview but there is an option to use with sonicview in there. Guess it would be worth a try...been a long while since I used it myself. Link to it here...Channel master

Help!!! I edited my 360 Premier channel list, with CM. Then I loaded it back into my receiver. It asked to reboot, I clicked ok. Now my receiver does not start up at all. Just (MAIN) on the LED display, but nothing else. Any suggestions on how to get this receiver back up?
