Need a little info on the type dish you have...does the dish have any markings or writing on it? Like dish500 or dp logo etc...the more info the better. As far as a general direction on which way this dish should be pointed you could check others in the neighbor hood and if they have a dish mounted and look which way they are all pointed...that would be a start.

First you need a clear view of the southern sky...mast pole needs to be mounted and then level and plumb. The straighter the mast pole the better and easier it will be to get a signal. Not sure where you are located but I'm assuming up north so I would go to dishpointer (link below)to get the correct settings for your location like skew and elevation so you can have those set correct. Once you have the mast pole level and plumb plus the correct elevation and skew it should be just a question of moving the dish very slowly left or right to get a signal and then tightening the bolts. Does your dish look like the one below?

One thing I will say with the sonicview it would be easier to get the dish setup with another person...that way one can watch the tv screen for Q and S while the other moves the dish...it can be done with one person but if you are not used to it or have set a dish up before by yourself and get very frustrating. You have to move the dish slowly and in small increments to lock on to signal. Some of the older stb's had a built in signal meter which had video and audio but the sonicview was not one of them. One of the hardest parts of the whole setup is getting the dish setup. Your settings above look okay but once you get the signal located I would turn network search off before scanning.
