Default Looking for file converter ?

I'm looking for a file converter that can deal with media files that have weird characters in the title, my receiver sometimes records movies with odd characters in the title and when I try to rename or convert them all I get is "The file name you specified is not valid or too long” in windows and a mac will not even see/display the files at-all. I have tried several different programs but none can deal with these kind of odd files/titles, any ideas ???

Cannot verify if it will work for "weird characters in the title". It states it has full Unicode File Support.

Thanks but that Super program was a no-go, fortunately I was able to find something that worked, it called Recuva.

After launching Recuva, cancel the wizard and select the right disk your file is on. Then go to Options, find and check all the options in the menus and launch the scan. After a while, it will show all the files on the disk (whether deleted/bad or not). It will find all your files with invalid names but watch as the names will be already fixed in the view and might be called something else. Now select them, right click and save somewhere else for renaming/editing....ect.
