How come the hd channels doesn't open to full screen like the way iks does?

Mine do. It doesn't matter if they are less than 720p. It's the aspect ratio that counts and their HD channels ( which are 5xxp I think) seem fine and stable on a 55" screen.

What you want to avoid are 4:3 channels which are stretched. Just my personal preference.
