Default Can you split Ethernet Cable

Buddy of mine has huge house and is running an Ethernet Cable to IKS FTA Box because wifi is to far.He also has an Android box and uses it only when IKS is Down.He was wondering if an Ethernet Cable splitter would work as he only uses ONE AT A TIME.It would avoid manually unplugging the Cable from one to another.

you can split an Ethernet with one of these

    h**p://www.amazon.ca/eForCity-257944-Ethernet-Splitter-Connector/dp/B003C2QS90/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1453228728&sr=8-2&keywords=ethernet+splitter

but I much prefer to do the job with one of these

    h**p://www.amazon.ca/D-Link--105-Desktop-Switch-Metal/dp/B000AOEA7A/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1453228728&sr=8-5&keywords=ethernet+splitter

    Thanx,
I will let him know of the two options.I believe the second option is when you need to have them work all at the same time.

It is preferred to use the second one, if for some reason the two devices are on at the same time you can get some big problems if you use the first one.

A switch is the better way to go.

It also prevents an IP address conflict at the router.

I didn't want you to think I was spending the money on myself. That's why I posted a reply explaining where the SatFix Bux went.

Here's a little token of my gratitude for your generous donation. Please accept it in the spirit that its meant...

I run a 5 port 1000Mbs switch for splitting my LAN cords. Never had an issue with signal speed running multiple lines.
