    Default 9000HD 8psk module connections

I recently recapped my receiver and now the EXT Tuner section is grayed out and won't let me turn it on. I suspect the tuner isn't getting power. I only find 3.3 and 5V on the tuner and usually tuners have a much higher supply voltage. Does anyone have voltage readings for the power connection to the tuner?

    TIA

Did you check that the power supply voltages were all there? If you replaced capacitors you might have done something that shorted or otherwise messed up some supply line.

As for tuners, I don't have voltages for the module, but 3.3 and 5 seem right to me. There might be an LNB supply line, but there might not, it depends on how the module works (does it replace the LNB in with one of its own or just splice into the PLL output at the decoder).

Yes. I have tried it both ways, looping through the main tuner out to the 8psk and feeding the dish to the 8psk and looping out to the main tuner. The enable EXT Tuner selection is grayed out on the menu

If you do find 8psk board is at fault, then it might be good idea to really document the board--lots of pics (all I can find is pics on sk900 point of sale ads), chips in use, voltages you see, what is on all those pins for the board. I've tried to get the code out of HD Viewsat boxes and they seem to not have clear code or compressed files, so I'm thinking that they have a boot that unscrambles the code and that boot is not in public AFAIK.
It might be that there are diagnostic messages on serial port--or the code might give one such if a few mods were made.

I would first test the receiver without the HD module installed to see if it works as a standard receiver.

If it does then reinstall the HD module, if it still does not show up in the menus then remove the PCB that you re-capped and look for any solder bridges or caps installed the wrong way.
