nope he didnt make it, he shoots right handed and coach Babcock likes to have the same number of lhd and rhd, so P.K and Kris Letang got left of the final roster, and they took Jake Muzzin who shoots left

yea I seen that too, also Corey Perry not on the roster after being the captain at the whc, but the thing is with Canada they could put together 3 or 4 teams and compete for gold lol

Including 3 goalies listed here there are only 16 players
13 players can't make the whole team ??
    Maybe the first two lines,,
there must be more players coming

Eight teams -- Team Canada, Team Czech Republic, Team Finland, Team Russia, Team Sweden, Team USA, Team Europe and Team North America -- will compete in the two-week tournament, featuring more than 150 of the best players in the NHL. All tournament games will be played at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, home of the NHL Toronto Maple Leafs.
Each of the eight teams will have a tournament roster of 23 players: 20 skaters and three goaltenders.
The World Cup of Hockey 2016 is a joint effort of the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players’ Association, in cooperation with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The eight teams are split into two Groups, Group A and Group B, for the Preliminary Round (Sept. 17-22), when each team will play its three Group opponents in a round-robin format. Placed in Group A are Team Canada, Team Czech Republic and Team USA, plus Team Europe, a pan-European roster of players from birth countries outside of the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia and Sweden. The four teams in Group B are Team Finland, Team Russia, Team Sweden and Team North America, a selection of the top players from Canada and the United States who are 23 or under as of Oct. 1, 2016.
The top two finishers in each of Group A and Group B will advance to the Semifinals (Sept. 24-25), where each qualifier will face an elimination game against a team from the other Group. The two Semifinal winners will meet in the Final, a best-of-three series on Sept. 27, Sept. 29 and, if necessary, Oct. 1.
Live coverage of all tournament games will be provided by Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada and ESPN in the United States. A complete broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.

    tsn..

Joe Thornton wasn’t on Team Canada six weeks ago. He probably wasn’t on the roster a month ago, either. But as the Sharks continue to roll through the playoffs, Thornton has become impossible to ignore, impossible to deny.
Thornton, along with fellow forwards Matt Duchene, Brad Marchand and Claude Giroux, as well as defencemen Jake Muzzin, Alex Pietrangelo and Brent Burns, was named to Team Canada for this summer’s World Cup of Hockey on Friday.
Written off in this space and many others as too slow for future calls from Team Canada, Thornton finished fourth in NHL scoring this past regular season and has continued to strengthen his case throughout the postseason with 18 points in 18 games.
Team Canada GM Doug Armstrong, who holds the same title with the St. Louis Blues, was force-fed a steady diet of Jumbo Joe throughout the Western Conference final. By the time the Sharks knocked off the Blues in six games earlier this week, Thornton had pushed himself over the top.
Being GM of Team Canada is either really easy or extremely difficult, depending on how one looks at things. On one hand, Armstrong has the deepest pool of players to select his team from and it’s hard to go wrong. On the other, there are some hard decisions to make when players like Cory Perry, Taylor Hall, Mark Giordano and P.K. Subban, to name a few, are left off the roster.

Some other thoughts on Canada’s final 23-player roster:
Jumbo surprise: Thornton making the final roster isn’t a shock — he’s a future Hall of Famer and his statistics suggest there’s lots of snap left in the elastic — but he was passed over in 2014 and wasn’t named to the original 16, leaving him in a battle with a bunch of younger men for limited spots.
Nasty surprise: Perry wasted no time in getting over to Russia for the World Championship after his Anaheim Ducks were bounced from the NHL playoffs, captaining Canada to a gold medal. He put his best foot forward to make the squad and was left off despite being a member of Canada’s last two Olympic champion teams. This has to sting for Perry.
Biggest surprise: Muzzin is a household name in the analytics community, but not many projection lists had him pegged for the World Cup roster. He’s big, can move and has been steadily on the rise the past few seasons. He’s played in pressure moments with the Los Angeles Kings and has played a lot of hockey with teammate Drew Doughty. Head coach Mike Babcock likes comfort and familiarity. One can see Muzzin playing alongside Doughty or with Brent Burns.
Forgone conclusion: Subban made the Olympic squad in 2014, but spent most of the tournament as Canada’s eighth defenceman. Now he’s on the outside altogether. Some infamous gaffes this past season, plus the lack of any playoff exposure or World Championship presence, made this decision easy.
Reclamation project: Duchene was eviscerated in the media by his Colorado Avalanche coach Patrick Roy for celebrating his 30th goal this season in the midst of a 5-1 loss. Duchene put that behind him with an excellent tournament at the worlds. He’s got pop-off-the-page speed and was tenacious away from the puck at the World Championship. He had a lot to prove to Hockey Canada management and he made his moment count.
Gone but not forgotten: Team Canada will return 14 players from its 2014 Sochi roster. Eleven players who won gold at those Olympics won’t be back: Chris Kunitz, Patrick Marleau, Perry, Patrick Sharp, Rick Nash, Jay Bouwmeester, Roberto Luongo, Mike Smith, Subban, Dan Hamhuis and Martin St. Louis. Rosters for the Olympics included 25 players, while it’s down to 23 for the World Cup.
Second guesses: How will having Thornton and Ryan Getzlaf work out for Team Canada? They’re both big and less-than-fleet centres. This team is going to play fast. Having a pair of players limited in this department could prove troublesome. And no Hall on the roster? A true winger with speed who can score, many thought this was finally his time.

Babcock isn`t a fan of huge risk takers without having much to offer defensively....that`s why Subban is staying home as well as Taylor Hall just to name a couple. The WHC was pretty much an audition for guys on the bubble....actually I`m surprised re Hall because I thought he was the hardest worker out there shift after shift as well as being defensively responsible.
Let`s not lose sight here that Babcock is forming a team and not necessarily putting our best players individually on the ice because we`ve seen how poorly that has ended up in the past...........it`s about the team.
