Default Leafs Trade For Goalie Frederik Andersen

Toronto Maple Leafs acquire Frederik Andersen from the Anaheim Ducks for 2016 30th overall, 2nd rounder in 2017

Frederik Andersen, a 6’4, 218-pound 26-year-old restricted free agent, is coming off a .919 save percentage season while splitting starts with John Gibson in Anaheim.

The Denmark native posted a 22-9-7 record with a 2.30 goals-against-average (GAA) and .919 save-percentage (SV%) in 43 games (37 starts) last season, followed by a 3-2 with a 1.41 GAA and .947 SV% in five playoff starts in the 2016 postseason. Over 125 NHL career games, Andersen’s averaged a .918 save percentage.
The Leafs have given up some of the draft pick capital they’ve accumulated over the past two seasons here in hopes of finding a solution in goal moving forward. The 30th overall pick was previously acquired from Pittsburgh in the Kessel trade.

    Cobra...
Well kids it certainly seems like the Leafs are starting to take this NHL thing a little more seriously these days. Trading for a legitimate starter in net is a good start.....only if they now begin to assemble some kind of defense in front of him......something else the Leafs haven`t had for years.

I wonder how much that little tumble from #1 to #3 on the Forbes list had to do with the sudden interest from MLSE in the Leafs............I bet the stockholders had a little something to say.

    OUTSTANDING acquisition !!! Now they're down to finding a good back-up goalie, 4 defencemen , 3 right wingers, 2 left wingers & 3 centers...lol

Leafs at the ACC are sold out for the next 5-10 yrs so no matter what they do the seats are sold mostly to corps. However the place was not even close to being full towards the end of the last couple seasons, meaning MLSE isn`t making money from the concessions, merchandise etc......hence the fall to #3 re Forbes. So by my thinking the only way to quiet down the stockholders and keep many of the board members cashing those inflated pay checks is to put out a legitimate product. MLSE played smoke and mirrors with Leafs Nation for years and probably could continue............but the stockholders won`t put up with a #3 behind Montreal and New York Rangers.

yea thats what I say to, I mean the deal was fair, and sweet lou just just extended him 5 years at 5mill per year, I think the rebuild is going to get rushed, I wonder if they will take a chance at signing Mr. Stamkos as well?

I`m one of the guys that hope they`ll walk away from Stammer`s @ $10 mill/per and start concentrating on spending some of Stammer money on some defense. IMHO Stammer`s health issues and the fact he`s basically a one way player the Leafs can and should do better considering they are still in rebuild. My guess is that Stammer will end up in Detroit/Montreal if anywhere.

I agree Cobra plus stammer has had some pretty bad health concerns, I mean there has to be some defensemen available through trade, but once mlse starts meddling in the shanaplan who knows whats going to happen, I wish they would just look the other way for another season or 2, till John Tavares becomes a free agent another thing I just read is that buffalo traded a 3rd for negotiating rights for Jimmy Vesey, wouldnt it be a kick in the nuts if he didnt sign in Buffalo and signed with T.O
