i have my dpp44 up snd running. everything seems ok. but im a liitle concerned its in the sun and its 110 degrees outside(probably a little more on the roof) do i need to try to shade or shelter it or anything?

No as it's rated out to 150 degrees F, but it would not hurt to put a solar shield over it.
I mount mine under the roof eve or in the attic/basement crawl space.
Does it have the heave duty case??? There are some knock offs coming in from China that just have a sheet-metal case, if yours is not the heave cast case then you may need to put inside something.
And did you use the water tight "F" connectors?
If not then a water tight box would help, I use Tupperware meal containers, find one big enough for the switch and coax, run the coax up through one of the sides after you punch a few 3/8" holes in that side, mount that side down, you can paint the container to match the house.
And be sure to properly ground the switch to a good Earth ground.
