Motor or Lnb needs to be replaced

I will say about a month ago I was cutting grass in the back yard and mind you my dish is mounted on the ground because it is motorized and I have a 38 inch dish. Some how some way my weed eater caught the line from the lnb to motor and snapped it in half. I simply replaced the coaxial wire and every thing was fine until now. Granted I was getting a lost signal from time to time on my dreamlink and one side of my invacom qph-031 was not working so eventually I lost all signal this last Saturday. I jingled the connection between the motor and coaxial and the signal would come in but eventually I lost the signal all together when I moved the rubber protection of the coaxial wire over the satellite connection. I used another receiver of mine to test to see if the receiver was the problem and of course that receiver showed no signal also but the motor functions still work with both receivers as to moving to the proper satellites. I bought a new invacom but my question becomes will I need a new motor too? It is a moteck by the way as to the motor because I am thinking maybe that connection on the motor could be shot.

Bypass the motor entirely for now to test it out. Point your dish on a sat and have your coax go directly from your lnbf to your receiver. If you are getting signal then the motor connection may need replacing. Make sure that no switches are attached either, straight coax from lnbf to stb.

Thanks I did not think about that, is it complicated to replace the motor connection?

Well I will be d**ned, it looks like the motor connection is bad, the satellite signal came in once I ran the lnb straight to the receiver. Is there a way I can bypass the motor connection and run both the motor and lnb through a diseq?

No the coax must go to the motor first then the LNB, now the jumper connection from the LNB to the motor may be bad, try a new one there first.

Jumper connection, not quite sure what that is, could you explain?

When you tested the signal directly from the LNB to the receiver how did you do this?

With a coax barrel connector bypassing the motor completely?

Or directly to the LNB with the main coax from the receiver removing the short piece of coax that goes from the motor to the LNB?

If it was the first one then something has gone bad inside the motor, the "F" connector may have split loose from the motors internal PCB, this is not reparable by most people, or it shorted out something internally inside the motor, again it may not be repairable, someone with electronic skills and a bit of mechanical skills may be able to replace and test the motor connection.

You said you hit the coax from the LNB to the motor with a weed eater....This coax is way too long if it was that close to the ground.

I just removed the coaxial wire from the motor and ran it directly to the receiver and the signal came in. Sounds like a new motor may be needed here is what you are telling me. As to the coaxial being too long you are right and I had went with a shorter one.
