Ferrari unveiled the Ferrari J50 during a special celebration held at the National Art Center in Tokyo on Tuesday.

In celebration of 50 years of Ferrari in Japan, the Italian supercar manufacturer announced its latest Prancing Horse, of which just 10 will be made.

The J50 is based off of the 488 Spider, and features the same 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that powers the 488 Spider to over 200 mph. However, the J50’s engine can push out an extra 20 horsepower - 681 hp in total.

The main differences, however, come in the design, with the guys and girls at Ferrari’s Special Projects division giving the windshield a “helmet visor” appearance along with a pointed nose and slit-like headlights.

Although the roof panel can be removed, the design stops the car from being a true convertible.

What it does do, however, is increase airflow over the rear spoiler, providing more downforce. Additionally, the radiators have been pushed closer together, making for a more aerodynamic front bumper.

Not only does this new design help with downforce and aerodynamics, but it also looks stunning, with Ferrari attempting a return to the popular targa body style of the 1970s and 1980s.

It remains to be seen how much one will cost, and also if any of the J50s will be made available globally, or whether they will be limited to Japan.
