    Default The Goodell Money Train.......Update

I think I wrote a piece on this a year or so ago so bear with me....

Roger Goodell "settled" all concussion and concussion syndrome effects cases against the NFL by former players by offering $750,000,000 in 2013..........by the time it was approved by a Federal Judge it was 2015 and balanced out at about $900,000,000 US. Case closed...pure genius on Goodell`s part in avoiding any court cases that may set any precident for further judgements or ongoing legal fees involved. That being said $900,000,000 is a pretty hefty bag of chump change for the owners of the NFL teams to dole out............unless they don`t have to go in their own pocket to do so......unless Goodell already had plans in effect to lessen or eliminate the cost of the judgement(settlement).
    Consider this.....
Pre...settlement,there was 257 players fined in 167 games in 2013 the total fines against the players of the NFL was $10,611,340.
After a settlement was offered in 2014 there were 219 players fined for a whopping $25,743,826 and again in 2015
In 2016 season there has been 319 players fined in 311 games for a grand total of $35,122,408.
Fines include $18,000 for roughing the passer ,$9,000 for a face mask penalty, $12,000 for penalized celebrations, $6,000 for tossing the ball in the stands and $24,000 for mentioning a blown call by officials.
These fines are levied by none other that King Roger himself, they don`t even have to be penalties called on the field of play.

These only scratch the surface of how Goodell is paying off his settlement. He`s getting the players of today paying off the injured players of yesterday while the owners don`t fork over a dime. NFL expansion plans to Europe and Mexico are certainly in the offing for the NFL bank........Mr. "players safety" conscience Goodell even wants to expand the schedule to 18 games...........so when these owners start threatening lockout next time or whine about players` salaries etc etc etc give some thought to the fact there are no poor NFL owners on the verge of bankruptcy.......fact is they are making it by the fistful.

    BTW.......
