Default Maple Leafs Acquire Brian Boyle from Lightning

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that the hockey club has acquired forward Brian Boyle from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for forward Byron Froese and a 2nd round draft pick in 2017.

Boyle, 32, has skated in 54 games with the Lightning this season, registering 22 points (13 goals, nine assists) and 48 penalty minutes. The Hingham, Massachusetts native has played in 603 career NHL regular season games, collecting 166 points (93 goals, 73 assists) and 470 penalty minutes. Boyle has also appeared in 100 NHL post-season games with the Lightning and Rangers, tallying 26 points (15 goals, 11 assists). He was originally drafted in the 1st round (26th overall) by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Froese, 25, skated in two games with the Maple Leafs this season. The Winkler, Manitoba native also appeared in 48 games with the Toronto Marlies, registering 39 points (24 goals, 15 assists) and 18 penalty minutes.

The Maple Leafs begin a three-game road trip on Tuesday in California against the San Jose Sharks.

yes, well they didnt give up much a 2nd rounder and a career ahler in Froese, I think it will be worth it but already hearing he wants to re sign with the bolts in the off season, but he is a heart soul big body guy that is better than anything else we got on the 4th line, not a bad deal, but would be better if he inks an extension.....

he's a good presence in the locker room as well ,, give these young players some
veteran play in the playoffs ... Like Webber will do for the Habs

I like Kadri ,,, (some guys take their time to grow up) he's gonna be all right ...
1st 2nd or even 3rd line,, Kadri fits in well and he'll do even better with Babcock's
    leadership

    Update .....
    sorry typed too fast there.

You guys disappoint me......I was fully expecting a "Start the Parade" crack.......

Like the sonic man said it`s a good acquisition for the Leafs really without costing them much. Like TLG mentioned he`ll be mosy useful in the dressing room. Possibly something is up with Bozak or maybe Babcock is trying to get a message thru the hard way to Kadri that he had better start backchecking again and not playing whenever he feels like it which has been his history.

Kadri was drafted in 2009.......he`s had plenty of time to grow up. His issue is not talent, he`s got a ton of that, his issue both in Juniors and the pros is that he plays for himself and when he feels like it. Game vs Habs for example stage was set for him, Marner out, Bozak out in one of the biggest Habs/Leafs games in a while and what did Kadri do......lagged behind the play in the D zone and floated at center for the passout all nite. Not once did he go into the offensive zone on Webber`s side except a couple drive bys.......................but he does a great interview.

I honestly thought he`d turned the corner this year with Babs because he`s been playing very well and working hard............but the last month he`s regressed into doing all the cheap shot(back turned) stuff he used to do, flopping around the ice, not backchecking and floating to open ice in both the O zone and the D zone, he only goes into the crease jabbing at a puck late when everyone`s back is turned to the play down low. My problem with all that is that he`s better than that....he`s got the talent...he should use it when the Leafs need him....not just when he wants a little press time behind a mike. IMO he`s got the right of passage with MLSE and he`s not going anywhere whether Babs like it or not.

I agree I can see it now if the leafs miss out on the playoffs, they will be harping on the management group that they ruined the rebuild by offering there 2nd round pick lol
