Default to replace two seperate legacy lnbs 91 & 82 by bell dishpro plus lnb

    hi,
I have two seperate standard legacy lnbs one for 91 and the other for 82 with century switch(4 to 1), and i need to replace them by a dishpro plus lnb.

do I need to move a little bit the dish to get the signal or just put it instead and modify receiver setting (dreamlink Hd) and the signal will be there ?

what setting for dreamlink HD i need to modify?

    thanks

It would help if you explained why you have to swap them

also those dishpro lnbs tended to be power hogs

the dishpro plus is a power hog only if another lnb is connected to it
Before replacing I would check your connections for corrosion, switches etc,
Run each bird directly to receiver and check signal/quality.Use a barrel connector
dreamlink has issues with emp-centauri ,maybe replace it if everything is ok running directly
Someone else can advise on aiming that lnb If you do replace with a dishpro turn diseq on and assign 91 to port 1.82 to port 2
settings are different if you get a legacy twin

If you mean a DP plus twin LNB like this one ..DP +.jpgthen there should be no problems with DC power from the FTA receiver, as long as you don't connect a second LNB (one port by it's self on the right) as Nobody mentioned.

You also would not need to readjust the dish, but I would mark it to be sure that it does not move when replacing the LNB.

You also do not need an external switch as this LNB has an internal one, just run coax directly to the receivers,(two ports on the left) but I would highly recommend a ground block be used right where the coax enters the building.(if there is not one already)

is it worth changing the legacy lnbs for dp plus(i have it i do not nneed to buy it)? or just change the switch if it is defective.

i have never had a grounding block. how can i ground this dp plus in a simplest way?

Personally i would stay with the Legacy setup, and change out your EMP switch, that is most likely the problem
like what "nobodyspecial" said, dreamlink has issues with emp-centauri switches, i use HD cheita switch 4x1 for all my setups
    (legacy) no switching issues.

I don't see that the sw is failing, just that you lost signal for a little bit? So, why change anything? The issue could have been heavy clouds or a bird flying around the dish or sitting on the arm.

or perhaps either the lnb or hd board becomes having problems. i thought to change lnb from standard to dp just to reduce things and source of problems in the future i mean to have a lnb and switch in one element.

If you have the LNB and want to change it then do so, and just get a ground block (dual type) for the coax and run it to a metal cold water pipe with a #12 copper wire, use a suitable ground clamp for the pipe.

The ground block MUST be rated out to 3 GHZ or you will have signal problems, one like this will work...

    th.jpg

Make sure it has the blue internal insulators or it's just for CATV or off air TV, (white insulators) those types will cause problems with DP and DP plus LNB's

The correct ground clamp for the pipe looks like this one, it can also be used with a ground rod....

    th1.jpg

You will have to change a few things in your satellite setup, use OCS-DP or Dish as the LNB type, and diseqc switch #1 will 91, #2 will be 82.

i am sorry i did not see the request for more information until now. Thanks to the other members who clarified for me.
now, i agee with this post because i did not see what dish he was putting it on and those duel dp lnbs may not match his dish and if they do match his dish i think it is that real small one shaped like a literal pizza? Better to go with the single legacys and use an oval dish like the Superdish was. if u already mentioned the size and type of the dish, my apologies.
in post number 12, you get decent instructions on the changes needed if you change lnb anyway.
