Default Man i'm sick of windows control on my laptop

This monopoly is just getting out of control with the constant updates on my laptop to the latest version of windows. To make it even worse the update won't complete because of some other BS about the HP pavilion, yet it keeps on trying to update, now.....Daily!!!

I've tried everything i can think of to stop these update attempts but nothing seems to stop the MF so......2 questions.

Is there a way to stop them trying to update to latest version of windows 10 ?

    What is a better laptop/tablet i could buy that i wouldn't be a prisoner of Microsoft ?

Well, i found this link for information on stopping update to Windows 10.

    hxxp://www.zdnet.com/article/how-existing-windows-users-can-refuse-microsofts-windows-10-update/

In regards to a laptop without Windows,, you can search for Chromebook, or Macbook..

    Hope that helps a little.

Thanks for looking into this for me ifonlyihad1, much appreciate the help.

For now i think I'll try the scheduling update and see if that works. It only gives options about updates 5 days but if if stops the auto update daily then i guess I'll reset it every 5 days......I'll see if it works starting tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip with macbook.......Seriously checking that option as well.

You can always try Linux Mint with the Cinnamon desk top. It works like Windows but does not have all the issues Windows has. It is free and it comes with all the programs you should need. The desktop looks like Windows as well.

If you are on WiFi ? for connection you can turn on Metering to stop it some-what, also can stop the auto driver updates i believe as well. also look here hxxp://www.windowscentral.com/how-stop-updates-installing-automatically-windows-10[/url]

Went with macbook, looking forward to playing with it in a couple days.

Figured the easiest way to transfer and get something new is before the old thing crashes or gets thrown out the window.lol

Yeah, while i was searching for a solution i noticed the one you're talking about and since i'm only using WIFI with the laptop i was going to try it......until.

Found a quick little tutorial on how to stop forced updates of windows updates. Within 2 minutes and only a few clicks, it is now disabled......thank god!

Well i guess i spoke to soon, the fockers tried an update even after i went into admin tools and disabled windows update.

Now I'll try a combination of mine and your wifi metering and see how it goes.

What a freaking pain, wish me luck.

Man, if there is......please somebody tell me cause i can't find many other options.

Just FYY, I don't normally have a problem with windows updates except this latest one WON'T. I'll spend 2 hours waiting for it to finish and update only to have it fail.

I was having the same problem on my Windows 10 computer. I unplugged ethernet cable after download finished and installation started, finally it installed the update.
