I have never used a password on any android box. Im at work but about to run home and get it off my desktop. It is also an OK2 app for sure as I never had to put the url in either.......

Went home and its ok2stb.apk. Thought I got it from here somewhere.......Dont need username or password.

I will almost guarantee this apk was originally for a service called royal iptv... up until recently i was using the same type of apk, maybe a little different but has the portal url hardcoded and made it so that mac address generates and user just clicks mac address out of the menu and thats whats used to activate. what you're describing sounds to be the same..

worked amazing until recently... now a popup appears asking for username and password.. not sure, but may have to do with api's?

If it is based on STBEmu, then no. No recording with this app.
If you want recording, the best bet is to get an actual STB capable of recording.
